Charlotte is a solicitor within the Dispute Resolution team at Allan Janes, and deals with most areas of civil dispute resolution. She particularly enjoys trust and estate disputes, shareholder and partnership matters, as well as employment litigation. 

Charlotte oversees our Retainer Package for Employers including, policies, and from recruitment to termination, advising on issues as they arise in real time, as well as dealing with disputes either during or after employment. 

Charlotte’s recent experience includes:

  • acting for the executor of a will in an application for revocation of a grant of letters of administration wrongfully obtained by a family member of the deceased;

  • advising on the enforceability of restrictive covenants in employment contracts, including possible injunctive action;

  • acting for the executor of an estate in an application for an account, seeking for the court to approve estate accounts in circumstances where one of the beneficiaries had raised allegations of failure to prepare proper accounts;

  • advising the executors of an estate in respect of an improperly drafted will;

  • advising on applications for rectification and prospective negligence claims;

  • issuing and defending claims for unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal and discrimination in the Employment Tribunal;

  • working closely with our personal injury department on stress at work matters, which often incorporate claims under employment and personal injury law;

  • assisting with a s50 application to remove an executor who was preventing the proper administration of the estate;

  • acting for a co-executor/beneficiary of the estate in a will validity claim;

  • acting for the claimant in a 1975 act claim;

  • assisting with a claim under TOLATA acting for the claimant and successfully securing a declaration of beneficial interest in property;

  • applying for a worldwide freezing injunction;

  • successfully defending a multi-million pound partnership claim, which culminated in a 17-day trial in the high court;

  • assisting with acting for the claimants in a claim for a declaration of beneficial ownership of property on the basis of constructive trust and/or proprietary estoppel.

Charlotte also advises on all non-contentious elements of employment law for both employer and employee clients, recently dealing with:-

  • drafting tailored employment contracts for senior executive employees;

  • advising on disciplinary and redundancy processes, including complex dismissals involving employees with ill health;

  • drafting company policies and procedures;

  • working closely with our Commercial and Property Department to advise on employment aspects of corporate sales, mergers and acquisitions;

  • preparing and negotiating settlement agreement; and

  • Mediating disputes between directors and shareholders.

Charlotte is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a member of the Contentious Trusts Association (ConTrA).  In 2022 Charlotte achieved a STEP Advance Certificate in Trust Disputes.
